Besiktas' longest-running transfer file of the summer window has turned into a test of patience. According to Fabrizio Romano, the Black-and-Whites have grown tired of waiting for free-agent Serbian striker Dusan Vlahovic to make a decision. The club have kept a three-year offer worth a net €8 million annual salary (with no signing bonus or performance bonuses) on the table for over a month; having already demonstrated their ambitious targets with the Leandro Trossard transfer, Besiktas now want a clear answer from Vlahovic and are unwilling to let the process drag on any further.
There is also a concrete sign that Besiktas' patience is running out. According to Spanish newspaper Sport, the club have told the player he has until tomorrow to respond to the offer; they are reported to be ready to move on to alternative striker targets if no decision is made.
The background to Vlahovic's indecision is also understandable. The 26-year-old, who parted ways with Juventus on June 30 after rejecting a renewal offer worth around half his previous salary at €6 million, had expected a flood of offers from clubs such as Barcelona, Atletico Madrid and Arsenal; however, Besiktas remain the only concrete offer on the table so far.
The Barcelona possibility has not entirely closed either. Vlahovic is reported to have offered himself to Barcelona as well, hoping the Catalan giants could enter the race should Ferran Torres complete a move to PSG; however, Barcelona's sporting department is said to have listened to the proposal but has reservations over the requested financial package — a signing bonus and substantial agent commission. The player is also reported to be in contact with Atletico Madrid.
The decline in the player's value further explains this waiting game. Having risen to as high as €85 million upon his move from Fiorentina to Juventus in 2022, his market value now stands at €35 million following injuries and fluctuating form.
