One of the most unforgettable transfer stories in Turkish football history took place during the move of Trabzonspor's legendary figure Ali Kemal Denizci to Fenerbahce in 1978. Ali Kemal, who created storms with the burgundy-blue jersey and played a major role in the championships won, was forced to pay the price for the severe financial crisis the club was in when he reached the age of twenty-eight. The Trabzonspor administration of the time decided to sell the legendary player to Fenerbahce for a high transfer fee in order to save the club from the economic bottleneck. This news caused a massive uproar in the city of Trabzon, and in 1978, thousands of burgundy-blue fans took to the streets and organized large-scale protest marches to prevent Ali Kemal from leaving the team.

However, this great love and rebellion of the fans was not enough to change the administrative decision made in the face of the club's financial difficulties. When they sat down at the table for transfer negotiations, Fenerbahce executives placed the transfer fee, which was a very high amount for that period, in front of Ali Kemal as an upfront check. The successful footballer, who stated that "all his dreams and world were destroyed" and felt that he was being sold against his own consent, pushed this large amount of money away with the back of his hand, left the room, and walked away telling the executives, "I will be back in an hour." After leaving the table, Ali Kemal Denizci cried for hours outside, and following his great disappointment, he returned to the room with the thought, "Why should I want those who do not want me?" and was obliged to officially sign with Fenerbahce. Following this transfer that took place in tears, Ali Kemal wore the Fenerbahce jersey but left behind those legendary, happy days at Trabzonspor. After his Fenerbahce adventure, the unforgettable footballer transferred to another Istanbul giant, Besiktas, in 1981, and ended his career wearing the black-and-white jersey. This forced farewell of Ali Kemal Denizci, who earned the nickname "Storm Kemal" throughout his career for his speed and talent, continues to be remembered with completely objective sorrow in the sports public even today.
