In the 3rd week of the Italian Serie A, Roma secured an incredible comeback by defeating their tough opponents Atalanta 2-1 with last-minute goals at the Stadio Olimpico. Starting the season with a brand new vision under manager Gian Piero Gasperini, the capital team won all of their first three matches in the league, reaching 9 points and continuing their march to the top. While the first half of the match ended in a goalless draw, Atalanta's Brazilian star Ederson took the stage right at the beginning of the second half, scoring in the 47th minute to give his team a 1-0 lead.
Despite falling behind, Roma did not lose their tactical discipline. Increasing their pressure on the opponent's goal with Gasperini's attacking moves, Roma found the goal they were looking for in the dying moments of the match. In the 89th minute, Spanish defender Mario Hermoso leveled the score to 1-1 with a stylish finish, igniting his team. Just four minutes after this goal, in the 90+3rd minute, young talent Matias Soule sent the golden goal into the net, bringing the score to 2-1 and making the Roma fans go wild. With the final whistle, immense joy erupted in the Roma camp, proving how ambitiously Gasperini's squad had prepared for the season.
