The untouchables: William Pacho and Fabian Ruiz staying at PSG

Two quietly handled but highly significant files in PSG's squad planning have come to light. According to Fabrizio Romano, two retention agreements at the club are already done: Fabian Ruiz's agreement over a new contract was sealed two months ago, while William Pacho's has been locked in since December. Romano stated that the Spanish midfielder has already agreed to sign a new three-year contract that also includes an option to extend for one more year.

The background to the Ruiz file has also become clear. According to earlier reports from RMC Sport, Ruiz's contract was expected to be extended until 2029, with the club also set to increase his salary to reward the player.

The Pacho file, meanwhile, stretches back much further. It is reported that the Ecuadorian centre-back's performances fully convinced Luis Enrique's coaching staff, with the verbal agreement reached months earlier — according to some sources, as far back as October last year — and the official signing completed in December. It is emphasised that the club views Pacho as one of the "untouchable" players who will not be sold in the future.

The reason neither player's contract has been officially announced was also a point of curiosity. This is explained as reflecting PSG's habit of grouping such announcements together, as they did last February with Luis Enrique, Vitinha, Achraf Hakimi and Nuno Mendes.

The figures also illustrate both players' value to the club. Ruiz, who joined from Napoli for around €21.5 million in 2022, currently earns in the range of €5.4-6.4 million; Pacho, who arrived from Eintracht Frankfurt and is valued at €80 million, has made 44 appearances this season, contributing 2 goals and 1 assist.
